Faces of NOC Enid
Justin Funk, 2005 NOC Graduate, Optometrist
“My education at NOC helped to open up possibilities for me to receive a bachelor’s degree and later a doctorate of optometry.”
Megan Robbins, 2007 NOC Graduate, Director of Operations for Oklahoma State Women’s Basketball Program
“I came to NOC on a basketball scholarship. I have always loved basketball and knew from an early age that I wanted to continue to share with others my love and knowledge of the game. While at NOC, I was able to take electives in physical education classes that helped develop that love of basketball even more. After my collegiate playing days were done, I was asked to rejoin the Lady Jets basketball team as an assistant coach. Getting to give back to the program that helped mold me was one of the best experiences of my life. I know without my time at NOC, I might not have developed the critical problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills that are what allow me to perform my job at a high level every day.”
Amanda Hladik-Liese, 2013 NOC Graduate, Upper School Math Teacher – June Shelton & Evaluation Center, Dallas, Texas
“NOC gave me an opportunity to receive an education close to home that was affordable and easily attainable. I was able to have a positive, one-on-one relationship with all of my professors and my advisor. Coming from a small high school, NOC provided me with the tight-knit, nurturing environment that I was accustomed to during my secondary education. In each of my classes, my professors knew me personally; I wasn’t just a name on a class roster. I feel that having that personal connection made it easier for me to seek help when I needed it. Beyond the classroom, I had opportunities to pursue a number of on-campus leadership positions. I was actively involved in a number of campus organizations that gave me the chance to network with people and experience new things. This was incredibly helpful for me as I worked to transfer to a four-year university.”
Sherri Salyer, 1988 NOC Graduate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist CRNA
“Attaining my associate’s degree at NOC was an important beginning for my career path. The RN program was rigorous and excellent and gave me a solid foundation to start my career. I earned my BSN from the University of Oklahoma in 2000. In 2006, after 16 years of mostly critical care nursing, I completed my MSN at Arkansas State University and specialized in nurse anesthesia. Today, I work as a CRNA, a Nurse Anesthetist, in my hometown, Enid, Oklahoma. NOC will always, always hold a special place in my heart.”
Ashlyn Joash, 2018 NOC Graduate, Marshallese Liaison/Tutor at Enid High School
“I was given great help from the faculty members regarding career guidance throughout my time at NOC. NOC was able to help me work and obtain my associate’s degree. If there were any questions or concerns, NOC was there to help.”
Christopher Sneed, 2019 NOC Graduate, Mass Communications
“NOC helped me realize my potential. The faculty and even other students changed the way I looked at myself and my life after being dealt a few difficult hardships. NOC has me ready to take on life in a whole new way.”
