Levi O’Brien named Donald Hays Scholarship winner
Northern Oklahoma College sophomore basketball player Levi O’Brien received the Donald R. Hays Thursday night.
The scholarship is for the 2024-25 academic year.
The late Ms. Eleanor Hays established this scholarship is 1991 in memory of her husband, Mr. Donald R. Hays, who was a former basketball player at Northern (at the time it was called the University Preparatory School) and the University of Oklahoma.
O’Brien receives the $1,000 scholarship award for being a male sophomore basketball player who attained the highest-grade point average during the fall semester at Northern Oklahoma College. He is an Arts and Science major who graduated from Columbine High School in Columbine, Colorado.
Presenting the scholarship certificate is Diana Morris Watkins, NOC President; Sheri Snyder, Vice President for Development & Community Relations; Mavs’ Coach Brandon Gossett, and Ryan Paul, NOC Dean of Students.
“Levi is the greatest representation of what a student athlete embodies,” said coach Brandon Gossett. “His commitment to academics alongside with his hard work on the court, has earned him the honor of receiving the Donald R Hays Scholarship.”
Northern Oklahoma College, the state’s first public two-year community college, is a multi-campus, land-grant institution that provides high quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities and services.
NOC serves nearly 4,000 students through the home campus in Tonkawa, branch in Enid, and NOC/OSU Gateway Program in Stillwater. Of these students about 80% receive financial aid and/or scholarships. 75% of NOC students complete their degree with zero debt.
