NOC Foundation kicks off new year with first Board of Trustees meeting in August
Northern Oklahoma College Foundation (NOCF) announced their Board of Trustees for 2023-24 as approved by the NOC Board of Regents this summer.
The NOC Regents approved a change in the Foundation’s By-laws increasing the number of trustees to 20 for the Foundation adding more community leadership to the board.
Two Regents, Bradley Fox of Ponca City and Jason Turnbow of Enid serve on the Board as well as the NOC leadership that includes President Dr. Clark Harris, NOCF Executive Director Sheri Snyder, Treasurer Anita Simpson, Director of Development & Donor Relations Candy Oller and Director of Alumni and Community Relations Kayla Wooderson.
Community leaders on the Board include Trustees Mark Detten, Brad Purdy, Jodi Cline, and Ken Bellmard from the Tonkawa area. Trustees from the Enid area include Peter Dillingham, LynnDe Funk, Cheryl Evans, and Patrick Anderson. Trustees from the Stillwater area include Dr. Gordon Laird and Patrick Zimmerman. Trustees at-large include Misty Diemer Thurman, Tom Poole, and Jackie Conrady.
Sheri Snyder, Executive Director for the Foundation and NOC Vice President for Development and Community Relations stated, “Our NOCF Executive Committee believes that we have selected appropriate community leaders from our service areas to assist us in the upcoming years as we explore the vision and future of the Northern Oklahoma College Foundation. We are excited to work together continuing to build our strong foundation in support of the many students and programs at Northern Oklahoma College.”
The NOCF currently manages over $15 million in unaudited net assets and awarded 361 scholarships totaling $228,450 in the 2022-2023 FY. For this 2023-2024 fiscal year, the NOC Foundation Board has been working with our private donors to increase not only the number of scholarship awards given but also increase the dollar amount awarded. Snyder commented, “The Foundation’s goal is to maximize the financial assistance provided to each student through private awards, thus reducing any out-of-pocket expenses for our students. The Foundation has increased scholarship award amounts with an additional $75,000 in potential scholarship support to be awarded this year to students at NOC.”
The purpose of the Foundation enhances the educational opportunities and environment at the college and is organized for the benefit of NOC and its students.
Northern Oklahoma College, the state’s first public two-year community college, is a multi-campus, land-grant institution that provides high quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities and services.
NOC serves nearly 4,000 students through the home campus in Tonkawa, branch in Enid, and NOC/OSU Gateway Program in Stillwater. Of these students about 80% receive financial aid and/or scholarships. 75% of NOC students complete their degree with zero debt.
The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and offers associate degrees in three general areas: Arts, Science and Applied Science; the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs; and the Accreditation Commission for Education and Nursing.
