NOC Book Drive and Book Sale (last updated 7.22.22)
The library at Northern Oklahoma College is undergoing a great transformation into the Pickens Learning Commons to meet the needs of today’s college students. Enhanced technology is being added, and new furniture for study and student collaboration spaces. Your donations of books and purchasing books at the sale will help to purchase digital resources for today’s college students. The library staff and volunteers have weeded out over 20,000 books from the NOC library that will be sold the first weekend in August at a massive book sale. Read below for more information.
We NEED Volunteers for the Book Sale:
We will need volunteers to assist with putting the 20,000+ books on the tables and during the book sale. Many of the table are being loaned by the churches of Tonkawa. Please contact the NOC Library if you are interested in helping at 580.628.6250 or 580.628.6200 during business hours.
Book Drive Dates: July 28-August 3, 2022
Five drop-off locations.
Blackwell – Blackwell Chamber of Commerce, 120 S Main St (During regular business hours)
Enid – NOC, Everest Administration Building in the lobby, 100 S. University (During regular business hours)
Ponca City – The University Center, 2800 N 14th St (During regular business hours)
Stillwater – NOC, Classroom Building in room 288, 615 N. Monroe (During regular business hours)
Tonkawa – NOC, Foster Piper Fieldhouse in the entry lobby, 1220 E Grand (Drop-off any time day or night)

Thursday, Aug 4, 5 pm-9 pm (Preview Sale) Early-bird access to Preview Sale is $20.
Friday, Aug 5, 9 am-8 pm
Saturday, Aug 6, 9 am-6 pm (Half price)
Sunday, Aug 7, 1 pm-4 pm (Books are free for what is left)
Book Drive:
NOC will be accepting donations of books and media to benefit the library project. Donations will serve two purposes. Some newer, well-kept books, DVDs & CDs will be added to the library’s collection if there is a need and if they meet the same standards as those required of purchased materials. The collection will be greatly enhanced by the addition of newer, donated books.
Many of the donations will not be added to the collection, but will be sold at a large book sale to fund purchasing needed books and digital library resources for students. The digital resources will be used by students, faculty and employees on all campuses. Donations judged not suitable for the collection or the sale will be discarded. Books need to be provided in boxes or tubs to allow easy transporting to the library/sale. Once accepted, donations are property of NOC and cannot be returned to the donor.
The Library will, upon request of the donor, provide a non-itemized receipt for donated items, but cannot assign a value to donated materials.
We are looking for lightly used items, such as…
- Hardcover and paperback books for adults (Books for teens and children will be put in the sale)
- Contemporary and classic fiction
- Popular and research-oriented nonfiction such as science, social science, biographies, history, self-improvement
- DVDs, Blue Ray discs, music and audio books on CD
We can also accept certain materials 10 years old or newer:
- Travel guidebooks
- College textbooks
- Reference books
- Test preparation guides
- New or lightly used games geared toward adults such as Codenames, Ticket to Ride, Catan, Wingspan, Dominion, Pandemic, Villainous
We cannot accept:
- Outdated textbooks (older than 2012)
- Outdated research and reference books (older than 2012)
- Readers Digest condensed books
- Encyclopedias, dictionaries
- Magazines and journals
- Books discarded by other libraries
- Audio cassettes and VHS tapes
- Computer games, computer programs or computer equipment
- Boxes that have been moved directly from long term storage to the Library
- Large quantities of books that are not in boxes or plastic tubs
- Books in poor condition (stained, broken spins, yellowed, moldy, torn, or with smoke or water damage, or with excessive writing in the text
- Magazines (bound or unbound)
- Books discarded by other libraries
- Non-commercially produced media (aka home videos/recordings).
- Loose material
Book Sale:
Close to 20,000 books that have been weeded from the library collection, plus books that have been donated in the book drive. Books are from all genres. This is probably the first book sale that the library has undergone.
Regular books will start at $2 for hardcover and $1 for paperbacks. Saturday books are half price and Sunday they are free for books that are left. If you sort books on a day of the sale we will expect you to purchase them on that day. We encourage you to bring your own boxes or sturdy bags for shopping.
There will also be around 1,000 antique books from early 1900’s and late 1800’s. Many of the books are stamped University Preparatory School. These as history of NOC. Come buy a piece of NOC history. These books may be a little higher priced. Price will be determined prior to the sale. Check back later for details.

Books and other appropriate materials will be accepted in locations in Ponca City, Tonkawa, Blackwell, Enid, and Stillwater. Drop off locations will be provided soon. Donations will be accepted July 28-August 4. The book sale will be August 4-August 7.
