NOC assists United Way at Enid Family Fun Event

The Early Childhood Coalition held a free Family Fun Event on April 12 at North Meadowlake Park in Enid.

Title sponsors are Northern Oklahoma College, Reach Higher, and the United Way.

This celebration caps off the “Week of the Young Child,” which is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

“The purpose of the Week of the Young Child™ is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs,” said Cheila Armour, Early Childhood Coordinator, CDSA.

Jeremy Hise, Vice President for NOC Enid said, “Superhero Saturday was a fantastic day for our community. Watching kids light up as they met their favorite superheroes and enjoyed activities like paddleboats and mini golf was awesome. At the same time, parents were able to connect with NOC and community organizations to learn more about valuable educational and family resources. We’re grateful to Dan Schiedel, United Way, and all the volunteers who helped make this event a success.”

In addition to the all the activities, several agencies shared information and providing giveaways, games and much more.

Those agencies included the Vance Air Force Base, Enid SWAT Team, Enid Fire Department, and Enid Police Department.

NOC’s Jets’ Men’s Basketball, Jets’ Women’s Soccer, Hispanic Club, Viva la Raza! And JJ (Jets Mascot) also participated in the event.  Kathleen Swain, NOC Coordinator of Student Activities Success Services and Kelly Vinson, Enid Student Retention Specialist also attended.

The Hispanic Club, Viva la Raza, manned the coloring table for the attendees and managed the table for the Spanish game, La Loteria. The winners of each game received a prize, compliments of Adrian Ibarra, one of the club sponsors. Other club sponsors are Dr. Charmaine Munro and Dr. Mary Ann McCoy.
