Northern Oklahoma College regents approved an internal audit report from Crawford & Associates at Wednesday’s meeting in Tonkawa.
The internal audit included two areas, according to Dwayne Tate of Crawford & Associates.
“First is to provide a claims audit and the second is to follow up on last year’s recommendations,” he said.
“We would like to express our appreciation for all the courtesy and assistance we received from staff during our work at the college and hope this report will be of benefit to NOC,” Tate added. “We enjoy working with your incredible staff.”
Tate said they have worked with NOC since 2010 and hope to continue that relationship going forward. He said the work done for the internal audit prepares the college for the upcoming external audit.
Regents also approved the college’s financial report provided by Vice President for Financial Affairs Anita Simpson.
Regents also approved two purchases over $25,000. The first was $180, 178.68 for Print Shop Equipment on a three-year lease to Galaxy Business Equipment, Inc. The second was the restoration of a Steinway Grand Piano at NOC Tonkawa at a cost of $35,867.00.
In administrator updates, Dr. Shelly Mencacci reported that work continues on the new greenhouse. She said the completion of the greenhouse will provide for curriculum additions in biological sciences.
Vice President for Development & Community Relations Sheri Snyder said the school’s development of a new website is underway and is expected to be completed by Fall 2025.
Jeremy Hise, Vice President for Enid, reported that NOC was a Title Sponsor for the Early Childhood Coalition Event in Enid on April 12. The free event was attended by many in the Enid community. Hise said that a number of NOC organizations participated in the event. He added that NOC connected with a number of non-traditional students through the Reach Higher Program.
Vice President for Enrollment Management Dr. Rick Edgington reported that enrollment for Fall 2025 is slightly behind pace of Fall 2024 but added that a number of participation groups have not yet enrolled for Fall 2025.
Vice President Simpson also added that administrators have been conducting space utilization tours for all NOC locations. She said that more meetings are planned in the future as the college seeks to make the most efficient and effective use of all spaces.
Dr. Marsh Howard, Vice President for Stillwater, said the parking fund raiser for “The Boys from Oklahoma” was a success with over $10,000 raised for NOC Stillwater organizations along with the United Way of Stillwater and the Stillwater Public Education Foundation.
Vice President for Student Affairs Jason Johnson reported meetings with the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education regarding “TimelyCare,” a virtual health and well-being platform that would provide college students with 24/7 access to virtual care at no cost. Johnson said the service provides on-demand medical care and mental health support
He said the program is expected to be implemented in Fall 2025.
In the president’s report, Diana Morris Watkins reported that the college is building NOC’s 5-Year Strategic Plan. She said that committees have been meeting to determine goals and ways to implement those strategies.
The May meeting will be held in Enid on May 14 at 2 p.m.
