Three inducted into NOC Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame

Marcus Chapman, Dineo Heilmann, and Marshall Reigh were inducted into the Northern Oklahoma College Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame Saturday night at NOC Tonkawa inside the Renfro Center.

Chapman (Class of 2002) is the superintendent at Chisholm High School, Heilmann (Class of 1982) is a retired NOC instructor/ Fine Arts Division Chair and Director of Roustabouts while Reigh (Class of 1999) is a game warden for Kay/Grant counties.

Chapman was introduced by Vice President for NOC Enid Jeremy Hise.  Heilmann was introduced by Dr. Rick Edgington, Vice President for Enrollment Management and Reigh was introduced by Ryan Paul, Dean of Students at NOC Tonkawa and Enid.

“Northern completely changed my life,” Chapman said.  “You don’t think about it when you go to college but Northern changed my trajectory, made me a leader, made me who I am today.  I want to thank NOC, my parents and family for their support from the start to the end.”

Heilmann joked in receiving the award that, “Rick (Dr. Edgington’s introduction) took all my time for my speech.”

He then said, “Being selected as a distinguished alumni makes me honored and humble especially to be selected among the honorees today and the alumni that have been selected in the past.  I want to thank Candy Oller (Director of Development and Donor Relations) for nominating me and my family friends who support me today.”

Reigh said, “I’m honored to be in the class with Marcus (Chapman) and Dineo (Heilmann).  I want to thank my family and friends and NOC.  When I received the call, I thought JJ (Vice President for Student Affairs Jason Johnson) was messing with me.  NOC was a good fit for me as I came from a small high school and I would have drowned at a larger university.  NOC gave me the foundation for my career as a game warden.  NOC set my path.”

NOC President Diana Morris Watkins closed the event saying, “Northern is honored to recognize all three of our inductees this evening.  We are honored that you chose NOC as the spot to begin your educational career, and we are proud of your many accomplishments since your graduation and the excellence you bring to your respective fields.”

NOC now has inducted 60 distinguished alums into the Hall of Fame. Nominations for the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame are accepted throughout the year.
