Xon Williams named Jared Weiberg Endowed Memorial Scholarship recipient
Northern Oklahoma College Men’s Basketball player Xon Williams was awarded the Jared Weiberg Endowed Memorial Scholarship Monday night before the NOC men faced Murray State.
Williams is a freshman from Millwood High School in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The Jared Weiberg Endowed Scholarship is presented to a walk-on player or student assistant manager of the Maverick team whose qualities include a strong work ethic, loyalty, unselfishness, and a passion for basketball. Williams will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
Weiberg’s father Mick, coached the Mavs from 1987-2006 and also served NOC as Dean of Student Affairs.
Presenting the scholarship award certificate were NOC President Diana Morris Watkins, Sheri Snyder, Vice President for Development & Community Relations, Ryan Paul (representing the Weiberg family), and NOC Mavs coach Brandon Gossett.
Williams was joined by his father, Xon Williams.
Williams’ name will be inscribed on the Jared Weiberg Memorial Plaque which is on display in the Vineyard Library/Administration Building.
“Xon is a high character student athlete whose relentless drive and positive attitude make him the perfect recipient of the Jared Weiberg Memorial Scholarship,” said coach Gossett.
Northern Oklahoma College, the state’s first public two-year community college, is a multi-campus, land-grant institution that provides high quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities and services.
