Lyndey Wilda earns Nevona Kegans Athletic Training Scholarship
Northern Oklahoma College Athletic Training student Lyndey Wilda received the Nevona Kegans scholarship for athletic training Thursday night at NOC.
Kegans, a 1961 alumna of Northern Oklahoma Junior College; was a member of the Mavettes, the Women’s Basketball Team and served as dorm proctor in Easterling Hall.
She returned to her alma mater in 1963 where she served in many capacities within the athletic and student affairs department.
She was instrumental in establishing the athletic training program at Northern and retired as Dean of Women and HPE&R division chair after serving the institution for 40 years.
Kegans’ commitment to Northern and continued support will provide students a chance to pursue their higher educational goals at Northern Oklahoma College.
Wilda, this year’s winner, is a Biological Science Pre-Med and HPE&R Athletic Training major.
She is also a member of the Maverick Women’s Wrestling team. She is the daughter of Mike and Stacy Wilda and a graduate of Perry High School.
She is the 8th recipient of this award and is receiving a $500 scholarship.
Joining Wilda on the court was her mother, Stacy Wilda.
Representing Nevona Kegans in her absence, and presenting the scholarship certificate to Wilda were HPE&R Instructor and Division Chair, Suzi Brown and Athletic Trainer, Summer McClure. Assisting with the presentation are NOC President Diana Morris Watkins, Director of Development and Donor Relations Candy Oller, and Athletic Director Alan Foster. Northern Oklahoma College, the state’s first public two-year community college, is a multi-campus, land-grant institution that provides high quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities and services.
