NOC, Central Tech Driving partner in Enid
Northern Oklahoma College and Central Tech Truck Driving Training have entered into an agreement where students attending the truck driver training program in Enid may live in NOC Enid student housing.

Both NOC President Diana Watkins and John Thorpe, Truck Driver Training Director, praised the new agreement approved by the NOC Board of Regents this summer.
“We are fortunate that NOC has such great working relationships with our area tech centers,” Watkins said. “This partnership will be a win-win allowing NOC Enid to fill some campus apartments that might otherwise go unused while increasing opportunities for people in the western part of the state to gain their CDL certification from Central Tech.”
Thorpe added, “Our partnership with Autry Technology Center and Northern Oklahoma College in Enid is a game-changer for our Truck Driver Training program. By providing housing though NOC, we are removing barriers and creating more opportunities for students to achieve their CDL certification.”
“This collaboration not only enhances the learning experience but also ensures that our graduates are well-prepared and highly sought after in the trucking industry,” he said. “Together, we’re paving the way for a brighter future for our students and the communities we serve.”
Students in the driver training program that choose to stay in NOC housing will stay in the Elliot-Goulter Residence Hall.
Central Tech Truck Driver Training offers a range of training options, including ELDT Class A CDL, ELDT Class B CDL, school bus, and hazmat training. The Class A CDL program spans 28 training days, providing students the choice between manual or automatic transmission. The 11-day Class B CDL course covers 80 hours, including an 8-hour online Hazmat option.
Northern Oklahoma College, the state’s first public two-year community college, is a multi-campus, land-grant institution that provides high quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities and services.
NOC serves nearly 4,000 students through the home campus in Tonkawa, branch in Enid, and NOC/OSU Gateway Program in Stillwater. Of these students about 80% receive financial aid and/or scholarships. 75% of NOC students complete their degree with zero debt.
The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and offers associate degrees in three general areas: Arts, Science and Applied Science; the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs; and the Accreditation Commission for Education and Nursing.
