Linton was sworn in by the Hon. Judge Lee Turner, District Judge for Kay and Noble Counties.
“We are very pleased to have Sandi Linton joining the NOC Board of Regents,” said NOC President Diana Watkins. “Her experience in private industry coupled with her commitment to public education, as evidenced by the many years she served on the Tonkawa School Board, will be great assets to us at Northern. I already appreciate her enthusiasm and look forward to her insights as we strive to achieve the college’s mission of creating life-changing experiences and developing students as effective learners and leaders.”
The regents also approved an internal audit report prepared and explained by Justin Kersey of Crawford & Associates PC. The audit which covered a number of different areas reported only four minor findings.
“We appreciate the NOC staff for their cooperation,” he said. “We enjoy working with a group of dedicated employees.”
Board members also heard a report on NOC’s food service contract. The regents authorized President Diana Watkins and Vice President for Financial Affairs Anita Simpson to negotiate and sign a five-year contract with Great Western Dining for the school’s food service starting in Fall 2024.
The board also approved a number of internal documents including the Fall Course Catalog, Student Handbook, Athletic Handbook, and Employee Handbook.
In the administrator updates, Watkins said that NOC Tonkawa hosted 350 students at the Sheep Field Day on July 15.
Vice President for Student Affairs Jason Johnson reported that 62 NOC athletes were named NJCAA Academic All-Americans including 24 named to the First Team (4.0 GPA). Johnson added that seven athletic programs recorded a team GPA of 3.0 or better. They include Women’s Soccer (Enid), Women’s Basketball (Tonkawa and Enid), Softball (Tonkawa and Enid), and Baseball (Tonkawa and Enid).
The next meeting is Sept. 11 in Enid.
