NOC Enid hosts Veterans Day Event
Enid Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Regent Cynthia Smith was the keynote speaker at the Northern Oklahoma College Enid Veterans Day Ceremony Friday.
Dr. Mary Ann McCoy, Chairman of the NOC Diversity Committee opened the program and introduced Smith who spoke of her lineage in the military including her father who served in the Pacific Theatre in World War II. He was part of the “Lost Battalion” at the Leyete Gulf in the Philippines.
Smith’s husband Robert, spoke of his service in the Viet Nam War where he served as a clerk starting in 1968.
NOC Vice President for Enid Jeremy Hise said that, “It’s always a good day to thank a veteran and we can never thank you enough for your service.”
NOC President Dr. Clark Harris provided the closing remarks saying, “I thank you for protecting America and the world. We are forever in your debt and can never say thank you enough.”
Smith played the anthem for each branch of the military with each veteran standing for their specific song.
The event closed with a rendition of “Taps.”
