The Northern Oklahoma College Board of Regents held their final meeting in 2020 Wednesday afternoon at the Renfro Center at NOC Tonkawa.
Wednesday’s meeting was the final one for Vice President for NOC Enid Raydon Leaton. Leaton is retiring in Oklahoma and taking a new position in Florida.
Regent Chairman Jodi Cline thanked Leaton for his service to NOC.
“I just want to thank you for your years of service to NOC,” Cline expressed to Leaton. “You will be missed by the faculty, staff, and students.”
“It’s been an honor and a privilege to serve NOC the past 20 years,” Leaton said.
In board actions, the regents approved policy revisions to the Students Handbook, Course Catalog, and Employee Handbook.
Those revisions were part of an update for a report to the Department of Education.
Regents also approved the annual Safety and Fire Report as well as the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program.
NOC President Dr. Cheryl Evans also reported to the regents the recent partnership agreement with Enel Green Power. As part of that partnership with NOC, students in the wind energy program were informed that they were going to be placed on scholarship for the spring semester with 13 students receiving $2,000. The students were informed on a Zoom Meeting before they took their final exam Dec. 9.
“That was one of the best Zoom meetings I have been a part of all year,” Evans shared. “I appreciate the partnership with Enel and we are all excited how that partnership is going to impact students at NOC.”
In the personnel report, the regents learned of seven retirees this month. They include Raydon Leaton, Enid; Amy Foss, Tonkawa; Fritz Osell, Enid; Dr. Cathy Moore, Tonkawa, Cindy Fox, Tonkawa; Renee Lee, Tonkawa, and Tom Ellis, Tonkawa.
The next regents meeting is Monday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. at the Renfro Center at NOC Tonkawa.
